Cortez, Colorado and Farmington, New Mexico
Cortez, Co presentation
Here at Eastside we went to afternoon area-wide singing with pot luck afterwards. Dave Jordan (LTCSW judging coordinator and board member) and his wife (LTC photographer) attend church here and we had a wonderful visit with them. They are recent empty-nesters so we had a lot to talk about.
Next up Albuquerque, NM
Continuing on.....
We did some sightseeing while here.
On Sunday morning we went to Grants CofC. If ever you find yourself in Grants on a Sunday this church is a must! The preacher, Matt Clark, has been here for a month with his family and what a beautiful message he gave. He is young, dynamic and convicting!
On this Sunday the preacher baptized his oldest daughter.
That night we headed for Thoreau to touch bases with them and let them know of some LTC changes.
Here is there LTC wall.
It was a delight to visit with these christians. At the beginning of service we were all comparing cell phone rings.
After services we went into a classroom and Bob did his 5 minute LTC presentation. These people are dedicated to LTC and the youth of their congregation.
We stayed at this RV park for the week and one evening we walked over to a restaurant at the travel stop. The restaurant is called Kiva and we had some New Mexico specialties. Green chili burgers mmmm good
It rained and rained...
We stayed at a campground in Clovis. Clovis is the town that houses Tonya's enchilada sauce powder for her heavenly beef enchiladas, thanks to Kevin's grandmother we knew where to buy the powder. Of course we had to go and find the store while here since it is one of only 3 places in the U.S. you can buy it. I believe United grocery in Lubbock is another of the exclusive places.
Went to church on Sunday where we met CK and Elouise Holt, they have been at the Children's home for years and do PR for the home during the year they also do the grocery runs in the western U.S, PaloVerde CofC being one of the stops. At 3pm Bob presented his LTC power point to a crowd of 50. The woman Cindy that set the time up for Bob was very sick and couldn't attend. On Wednesday night during class we found out she was in the hospital with pneumonia. Ellouise suggested we go visit her so we headed for the 10 bed hospital and on the way Cindy sent us a text message from her hospital bed to come and discuss LTC. These people are dedicated!
On Monday we met CK and Ellouise at Leal's Mexican restaurant where I ordered a stuffed Avocado! Oh man, life is not complete till you have a stuffed avocado. It is batter fried, opened and stuffed with fajita seasoned chicken on a bed of rice!
We also found a Bahama Bucks and went every night! It is a Shaved Ice paradise, Tonya introduced us to Bahama Bucks in Lubbock when she was in college.
