Cortez, Co presentation

Saturday afternoon at Cortez, Colorado

Farmington NM, Northside Church of Christ

Northside LTC wall.

Here Bob is giving his LTC speech to Northside after morning service.

Here at Eastside we went to afternoon area-wide singing with pot luck afterwards. Dave Jordan (LTCSW judging coordinator and board member) and his wife (LTC photographer) attend church here and we had a wonderful visit with them. They are recent empty-nesters so we had a lot to talk about.

Next up Albuquerque, NM

Continuing on.....

Here we are in Grants NM

We did some sightseeing while here.

We found a casino and went in to find a restaurant and put some nickels in the slots.

Apparently, Bob decided to move up in the world of slots because I left him for a few minutes to go get some soda from the free soda fountain and when I got back he had played the quarter machine and won $10 in quarters!

I promptly used them for laundry the next morning.

On Sunday morning we went to Grants CofC. If ever you find yourself in Grants on a Sunday this church is a must! The preacher, Matt Clark, has been here for a month with his family and what a beautiful message he gave. He is young, dynamic and convicting!

On this Sunday the preacher baptized his oldest daughter.

That night we headed for Thoreau to touch bases with them and let them know of some LTC changes.

Here is there LTC wall.

It was a delight to visit with these christians. At the beginning of service we were all comparing cell phone rings.

After services we went into a classroom and Bob did his 5 minute LTC presentation. These people are dedicated to LTC and the youth of their congregation.

We stayed at this RV park for the week and one evening we walked over to a restaurant at the travel stop. The restaurant is called Kiva and we had some New Mexico specialties. Green chili burgers mmmm good

I can't seem to find the pictures we took at Kiva.

It rained and rained...

Next up is Gallup:

Tuesday we were invited to dinner with Greg and Lisa Pederson and their two girls. Was a great steak dinner and a lovely home.

Wednesday Bob presented his 5 minute LTC talk.

I will have Farmington and Cortez pictures up next....

Our first stop on this LTC Promo Tour is Portales/Clovis New Mexico.

We stayed at a campground in Clovis. Clovis is the town that houses Tonya's enchilada sauce powder for her heavenly beef enchiladas, thanks to Kevin's grandmother we knew where to buy the powder. Of course we had to go and find the store while here since it is one of only 3 places in the U.S. you can buy it. I believe United grocery in Lubbock is another of the exclusive places.
Went to church on Sunday where we met CK and Elouise Holt, they have been at the Children's home for years and do PR for the home during the year they also do the grocery runs in the western U.S, PaloVerde CofC being one of the stops. At 3pm Bob presented his LTC power point to a crowd of 50. The woman Cindy that set the time up for Bob was very sick and couldn't attend. On Wednesday night during class we found out she was in the hospital with pneumonia. Ellouise suggested we go visit her so we headed for the 10 bed hospital and on the way Cindy sent us a text message from her hospital bed to come and discuss LTC. These people are dedicated!
On Monday we met CK and Ellouise at Leal's Mexican restaurant where I ordered a stuffed Avocado! Oh man, life is not complete till you have a stuffed avocado. It is batter fried, opened and stuffed with fajita seasoned chicken on a bed of rice!
We also found a Bahama Bucks and went every night! It is a Shaved Ice paradise, Tonya introduced us to Bahama Bucks in Lubbock when she was in college.

Thought this cloud looked like a Southwest airplane.

Bob presenting his LTC powerpoint at Southside church.

CK Holt gave us a tour of the Portales Children's home campus.

Standing on the right is Rick ,Patti they are houseparents and had the lunch of the day for the other houseparents and we were invited. There are 6 houses and they rotate lunch each weekday during the school year for houseparents to get together and just talk and eat in a relaxed atmosphere. Today Patti and Rick made delicious corn chowder, homemade bread and carrot cake, yummy!

Sitting is CK Holt and standing on the left is Ellouise Holt.

That was our Portales experience.

Next up is Gallup, NM.....
